Moon: Central Region

With little foreshortening, the Central Region provides a direct overhead view of a varied terrain. The enormous flooded crater Ptolemeaus heads a cluster of distinctive craters - Albategnius, Alphonsus and Arzachel. The region also hosts several crater chains, strings of craterlets formed by past multiple impacts. Hyginus crater and rille system is a unique volcanic feature. There are numerous other rilles throughout the region.
