Sinus Iridum at Sunrise - Moon: North West Region
VTM E3 | Rukl-10
Sinus Iridum is a large "bay" on the North East edge of Mare Imbrium. It is the remanent of a 236 km diameter impact basin. The surrounding basin wall forms mountain range Montes Jura. In this image the rising sun is illuminating the Eastern face of the Jura mountains. A number of prominent wrinkle ridges can be seen at the boundary of Sinus Iridum and Mare Imbrium - they look like ocean waves approaching a cove! Waxing Moon 78% full
