Copernicus Ray System

The impressive ray system of Copernicus (93 km), recorded here in red light, is even visible in a small pair of binoculars when illuminated. The rays extend up to 800 km from the crater. Due to the relatively "young" age of Copernicus at ~800 million years, the rays are well preserved, though a number of small, dark, more recent impacts can be seen on the surrounding plain. South is up.
